When there are so many options to choose from, most people get overwhelmed trying to pick out new plants for their home. The last thing you want to have to worry about is taking care of fussy plants, and it certainly is not a fun experience to buy plants just for them to die. So, this is a compiled list of the plants that thrive inside and are relatively easy to take care of. All of these options are sure to liven up any room in your home!
Snake plant- Tough and extremely drought tolerant, the snake plant has many variations and are quite easy to take care of. The types of snake plant vary from 16in to 3 or 4 feet tall. They enjoy sunlight, but are just fine with low light and only need to be watered once a week.
Monstera deliciosa- If you have a bright and warm living room or a window in the kitchen, this plant will love your house! It enjoys humidity and bright light with some shade. The monstera will grow up to 78in but is limited by the size of pot that it is in.
Zanzibar Gem- Perfect for a side table to coffee table, the “ZZ plant” is extremely undemanding. It will thrive in both shady spots and partial light, is very drought tolerant and doesn’t require repotting. This plant will get to about 3 feet tall to liven up any space and even has air-purifying qualities.
Philodendron- There are over 489 species of Philodendron to choose from! This plant loves bright light and can handle some shade as well. It will thrive in almost all humidity levels, but prefers a more humid environment. Just place it in a steamy bathroom once in a while, and it will be a very happy plant.
Pothos- An extremely popular plant for those looking for low-maintenance greenery. The pothos almost thrives on neglect and will turn yellow if it is watered too much. It prefers humidity, but do not water it until the top two inches of soil is dry. They also come in a wide variety of shapes and colors so it fits into any room!
String of Hearts- This trailing plant is perfect for hanging in a window or kitchen. It is extremely low maintenance and just wants to stay away from cold drafts. These adorable green-silver leaves with a pink underside can get up to six feet long and are great for adding color to the room.
Kentia Palm- A very tolerant and tall plant that will withstand basically anything! The Kentia palm can thrive in any light conditions and does not need to be watered very often. The only thing this plant does not like is sitting directly in water.
